National Police Support Fund Welcomes New Advisory Member Dan Niedhammer

Alexandria, VANational Police Support Fund, a nonprofit political organization committed to aligning the interests and needs of police officers with the public’s issues and concerns within the national political process, welcomed new advisory board member Dan Niedhammer last week.

Dan Niedhammer is a retired police officer who spent his career with the Richmond Police Department in Richmond, Virginia. During his time as an officer, Dan formed the Richmond Coalition of Police, (RCOP) and was the Legistivate Director for the Virginia Coalition of Police and Deputy Sheriffs.

On joining the National Police Support Fund, Mr. Niedhammer said: “It is important for me to stay involved because I know the personal effects policing has on the men and women in law enforcement. I am motivated by my sheer will to serve not only the men and women in Blue but the community as well.”

National Police Support Fund is thrilled to have Mr. Niedhammer’s perspective and expertise on the advisory board, and believes good governance and transparency is the key to building a successful organization and successful movement. “Dan Niedhammer brings passion to our organization, along with years of wisdom and the perspective of a retired officer that understands the importance of community policing better than anyone,” Executive Director Simon Lewis commented.

When asked about his top priorities, Mr. Niedhammer stated: “There are many issues I am passionate about, first and foremost is police suicides  Our country loses more Police Officers to suicide than any other cause of death.  Now in today’s environment, the move to ‘defund the police’ and the anti-police sentiment needs immediate attention.”
