ARLINGTON, Virginia – The National Police Support Fund has recognized shooting and murder statistics for Chicago, in both blog and video form, as there has been an uptick in violence in Chicago. There’s been a 50% increase in murders and 22% increase in shootings since 2014. In 2016, Chicago had 1,491 shooting incidents with 342 of them as murders.
As of mid-September, there have been 120 murders and 469 shootings. That is a 52% increase since 2014. This data includes the north, west, south and central areas of Chicago. NPSF is determined to shed light on what is really happening in Chicago.
