ALEXANDRIA, VA. – As the “defund the police” movement continues to spread across the country, state legislatures and other elected officials are taking actions that will make it even more difficult for police to do their jobs and keep our communities safe. Grassroots political organization National Police Support Fund has created an ever-developing Legislative Action Tracker on their website to make it easier for supporters across the country to track legislation at local and state levels that would directly impact law enforcement.
Executive Director Simon Lewis commented: “There is so much happening when it comes to police-focused legislation, both positive and detrimental, across the country right now. It can be hard to keep track of everything going on, especially when you factor in local, state, and federal level legislation. Our 2021 Legislative Action tracking page lays out important legislation in an easy to find and understandable way. Knowledge is power, and this tool will allow pro-police citizens to stand up to harmful legislation that will further harm our brave police.”
Right now, the organization is focused on tracking developments in Illinois, Maryland, and Washington that could fundamentally change the way law enforcement operates. The tracker will continually be updated to add new bills and proposals as they arise.
National Police Support Fund is a grassroots political organization that is committed to aligning the interests and needs of police officers with the public’s issues and concerns within the national political process. The organization engages in awareness campaigns, local Get out the Vote projects ahead of elections, and provides free resources to supporters, among other vital work in the political process. National Police Support Fund was founded as a response to the rise of an increasingly violent anti-police sentiment across the country.
Visit the Legislative Action Tracker to stay up-to-date on the latest legislative issues impacting police and learn how you can contact elected officials to show your support for police and the important work they do.
