Last week, National Police Support Fund joined thousands of chiefs of police, supporters, and industry insiders at the 125th International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Orlando, FL. IACP is dedicated to helping Police Chiefs around the world become better leaders and serve their communities even more effectively. We were able to meet with experts in the field and get insights on the challenges faced by police departments across the country and, in fact, around the world.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer gave a rousing opening speech, commending the local and national response to the horrific Pulse nightclub shooting in 2016, and showing his appreciation for a community that came together in the wake of the tragedy. His warm welcome kicked off conference’s events, which were highlighted by President’s Trump’s remarks a few days later.
Here are a few highlights from our time in Orlando:
One of the biggest topics of conversation at IACP 2018 was technology. As technology becomes a part of our everyday lives, departments around the world are investigating ways it can benefit officers and make them more effective at their jobs. We were able to talk with technology vendors and demo hardware related to facial recognition, biometrics, and body camera technologies.
We were honored to be able to attend this great annual event, and look forward to 2019 International Association of Chiefs Police Conference in Chicago.
